My name is Joke Klootwijk and I live and work in Middelburg, Zeeland.
I have been painting since 1984. My time is devoted to full time painting.
Since 2002 I am a professional working artist.
After various art studies my preferred medium is watercolor.
I studied art classes and workshops for this technique, by artists whom I admire for
their painting style. Nowaday
s I still follows lessons and workshops by famous painters as: Alvaro Castagnet, Cao Bei-An and René Jansen.
I also studied art classes at the Albeda College in Rotterdam.
In 2000 I started running watercolor workshops specialized in the so called wet-into-wet technique.
My paintings have there own unique style. Using thin glazes of paint, mostly wet-into-wet painting, makes my watercolors suggestive and moody. Mood is very important for me.
An always returning item in my watercolors is reflection. A very inspiring subject.
I am also available for private commissions.

Since my move to Zeeland (the Netherlands) I started up new workhops in the tourist City Middelburg, a nice old capital city of Zeeland. (Look also Middelburg)
My paintings are very accessible so they are in private collections and several colletions of companies.

From 2000-2008 A selected member of the ArtRoute Barendrecht, een event that will be held every first weekend in October, in Barendrecht Zuid-Holland. www.kunstroute.nl
Since 2008 A guest member of the ArtRoute Barendrecht.
From 2004 t/m 2006 Teacher watercolor classes in Nieuwerkerk a/d IJssel the NUT.
In 2006 registered as a member of the Koninklijke Vereniging beeldende kunstenaars van België. (KVBKB)
Since 2010 member of the Zeeuwse Kunstenaars
Since 2010 member of the National Association of Artists. (NABK)
