Monet Journey

November 2nd, 2011

A new innovative website features the work of Claude Monet by letting you interact with his paintings.

Claude Monet

It starts by letting you topple over an inkwell. The splash turns into a series of encounters with his paintings. You will be invite  to use the mouse to turn winter into spring  and ripple the water.
It might take a while to load unless you have a fast connection. But it is worth for waiting!

Painting Plein air

April 28th, 2011

plein air aquarel

Plein Air watercolor harbor of Nieuwland
size 26 x 38 cm (without frame and mat)

Today was the first day of the Plein air painters of Middelburg, Zeeland the Netherlands, organized by Cees Takkenberg.

The first location was in the Port of Nieuwland, indeed boats. But I have painted a boat  still on shore.  Partly because of the wind direction I chose to paint in the shelter and not a boat that was moored in the harbor. Perhaps the next time a boat with reflection. It was a beautiful sunny day, so everyone was very happy and motivated.

The art of watercolours

February 16th, 2011

Sheila Hancock Brushes Up: The Art of Watercolours.

An upcoming programme on the BBC 1 channel, Sunday February 20, 2011, Dutch time 18.00 hours.

Watercolours have always been the poor relation of oil painting. And yet the immediacy and freedom of painting in watercolours have made them the art of adventure and action – even war. It has been an art form the British have pioneered, at first celebrating the greatest landscapes of Europe and then recording the exotic beauty of the British Empire.

Sheila Hancock – an ardent fan of watercolours since her childhood, and whose father was an amateur watercolourist – sets out on a journey – from the glories of the Alps and the city of Venice to deepest India – as she traces the extraordinary story of professional and amateur watercolourists, and reveals some of the most beautiful and yet little-known pictures.

She visit famous watercolor painters as:  Milind Mulick in India and Sheila visit Venice where Nicola Tenderini, shows here how Turner San Giorgio Maggiore painted!

New watercolors of students

January 21st, 2011

On the page Students you can find the newest watercolors of students.

A lot of students have never painted before, so it is great that so many people paint so beautiful watercolors for the first time.

For me, I like it that so many people start to make watercolors. A difficult but fascinating painting technique.

Take a look to see what a wonderful work some have made. Click here.
