My Workshop by Alvaro Castagnet
My three days watercolor workshop in Belgium by the famous expressive watercolorist Alvaro Castagnet born in Montevideo, Uruguay has finished.
It was a great oppurtunity for me to be present as a student in the first watercolor workshop of the expressive painter Alvaro Castagnet in Belgium on September 1, 2 and 3, 2008.
Alvaro travels around the world painting and lecturing the art of watercolor, judging shows and attending exhibitions of his work.
For the first time, with high exeption he runs his watercolor workshops in Mol and Brugge, Belgium.
It was a very inspiring workshop, actual a masterclass, with lots of tips, demo’s and his personal philosophy about watercolouring.
My own painting time was to short for making watercolors, but the first day he explained the building of his own watercolors. Step by step in three layers he explained the theory of a good painting. Afterwards we could paint our own painting as a study, that was very clarifying for me.
I framed the watercolor study as a “hommage to Alvaro Castagnet” as a reference. So I can see every day what a great painter he is.
Perhaps in future you can see his influence in my watercolors, but that is very favourable, because his is indeed a MASTER OF WATERCOLOUR.
